Don’t be fooled by the title! Technical Editing is a lively course designed to interrogate and practice how we craft technical and scientific knowledge through verbal and visual languages. We’ll talk about how knowledge construction is a rhetorical process, how you participate in that process, and we will also learn strategies to write better materials. Prof. Mehlenbacher is especially interested in citizen science, do-it-yourself biology, and science-focused hackerspaces, and so we’ll also talk about new media, such as crowdfunding platforms and open databases.
