Vanessa Schweizer is a faculty member in Knowledge Integration. She teaches courses in design thinking, problem solving, and decision-making. Her teaching and research interests are in how science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics (STEAM) can be applied in service to society. More specifically, she focuses on policy-relevant science, decision support, and citizen engagement. Prof. Schweizer holds a PhD in Engineering and Public Policy from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh USA). Prior to joining University of Waterloo, she was a junior scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (Boulder USA). She is a member of the InterdisciplinaryCentre on Climate Change (IC3), an Affiliate Researcher with the Waterloo Institute for Complexity and Innovation, and a Fellow at the Balsillie School of International Affairs.
